Colorbar cosmetics recently revamped its entire nailpolish collection and I picked up a few shades. All the nailpolish range now have same packaging and some of the previous shades (like 24 ct collection or heavy metal collection) have been branded as ‘Arteffects‘ range. I have already reviewed the following shades:
Snow White (2nd shade in pic above)- beautiful off-white color with heavy shimmer
Pinken Gold – gorgeous duochrome orange-pink color
Liquid Gold – unique antique bronze color
In this post I am reviewing a deep red color- Heroine (first one in pic above).
Price: Rs 250 for 12 ml
Colorbar Luxe Nail Lacquer Heroine Review
Colorbar Luxe nail lacquer comes in thick, cube glass bottle with short brush. The nailpolish bottle looks attractive but feels heavy and bulky and takes up more space in stacking. The brush cap is silver colored with ‘CB’ logo embossed on top. The shade name and other details are stickered at the bottom. The brush is short and wide and slightly rounded which helps in clean application.
Heroine is a beautiful deep red color with faint brown tones. This is not a vibrant but mature kind of red, and looks absolutely gorgeous when applied. This shade is perfect for fall. It The pigmentation is good and needs 2 coats for full opacity. One coat looks vibrant cherry red (similar to THIS Chambor nailpolish) and second coat gives the deeper color. The consistency is creamy and application is uniform and non streaky. The finish is glossy and it dries quick.
Unfortunately, the wear time is not so impressive. The Arteffects range is more long lasting than this. Tip wear started after 2 days and proper chipping started after 4 days. Pricewise it is okay for the quantity.
Overall, Colorbar Luxe Nailpolish comes in short, glass bottle which looks attractive but feels bulky. The brush is short and slightly rounded which helps in clean application. The consistency is creamy and pigmentation is good. It needs 2 coats for full color build up. Finish is glossy. The shade Heroine is a beautiful deep red color which will suit all skin tones. This nailpolish is okay for its price as the quantity is big (12 ml). The only con is the wear time as it starts to chip after 3-4 days.
So I do a lot of nail art, some turn out great, which I post it here (I try to post ’em all). But some look so bad that I would rather see the ‘Mountain’ (Sir Gregor Clegane) of Game of Thrones without his helmet (Eeeeeek!).
So instead of throwing such nail art pics in trash, I decided to post some of it on the blog itself, just for fun.
And so, this is the series of my epic fails at nail art 😀
After all, none of us is perfect 😉
This was my first attempt at gradient I think, and I chose such contrasting colors, that it didn’t blend at all 😀
But I think I can still call it as “Tequila Sunrise nail art“. Doesn’t sound bad! 😉
First of all… Happy newww year 🙂 I know I am almost a month late in wishing but better late than never, right?
So I thought of starting with this year on a rather colorful note. So here it is- *drumrolls* The Color Block nail art
Actually I did this nail art long back but somehow never posted it here. This nail art is inspired from the pic HERE. I kept the color combinations same as this is a vibrant combination and I wanted to keep it bright and colorful.
This is a very simple nail art. All you need is a few colorful nailpolish, a black polish and a striping brush.
And if you don’t have a striping brush just grab an old nailpolish brush and trim it with scissors. You can also use a nail art pen if you have one.
You don’t have to be perfect while applying the basic colors. The black outline will hide the imperfect boundaries of the different colors 🙂
I have done color block nail art before as well.. check it HERE.
Red: Colorbar Pro Nail Lacquer – Rosie
Mint: Maybelline colorama – Absinto
Yellow: Flormar Supershine – 41 (also used in THIS nailart)
Ok so this is going to be a short post. Since love is in the air, I did a Valentine’s day nail art.
I painted my nails in White base color since this is the best color as your canvas on which your imagination can run wild. I wanted to paint a boy and girl exchanging hearts.
I drew the hearts using a tooth pick. You can find the tutorial for drawing hearts HERE. I have used the first method out of the two given in the tutorial. Worth a read I’d say.
I drew the boy and the girl using a nail art pen. Now since the couple’s hearts exchange finished off on the 4 fingers itself, my thumb got lonely = D So I did the easiest thing. Added Polka dots. And to keep up with the theme I drew a small heart.
Nail polishes used:
White: NYC In a minute quick dry nail polish – Blanco 032
Red: Colorbar Pro nail lacquer- Rosie
I liked the mani. Hope you find it useful too.
I have been wanting to do a stripes nail art for a long time. And finally when I sat down to do one, my patience level didn’t allow me to paint on all 10 fingers. So, I made it an Accent nail art.
I did a simple French tip on rest fingers.
Now, after a few days the French tips started to chip away while the accent nail was still sitting pretty. So I thought of re-doing my nail art.
And another Accent nail art is what we did. It came out even better than the previous one 😀
I have got to start applying a Top coat. x-(
Anyhoo, its still pretty.
The red can be applied again as long as the accent nail remain intact. =D
The green nail polish used here is Faces nail enamel in shade ‘Forest Green 09’
Red nail polish is Colorbar Pro Nail Lacquer in shade ‘Rosie 015’
It has been a long time since I last posted a nail art. I have been a bit lazy, thats all. Now, I was not a huge fan of Accent nails but decided, Eh! I might as well try. And, after this nail art, I have pretty much started liking accent nails. It looks pretty. Takes much less time (1 nail vs 10 nails).
So, accent nails are basically when you paint one of your nails differently from the rest. It can be any nail. I chose the ring finger.
I chose to draw a chevron sign for accent nail.
First I decided to use a scotch-tape. But the final result was not symmetrical.
So, I had to touch up and redo the design free hand.
Accent nails are comparatively easier and best for the times you are running late. Plus when they prettify the nails well, who’s to complain? 🙂
