Empties Vol. 6 + Mini Reviews

So these are my recent empties with their mini reviews.

  1. Nivea Oil in Lotion Rose & Argan Oil – Nivea recently launched 3 new variants in its body lotion and this was one of them. I really liked this lotion and this is already my 3rd bottle 😛 The lotion is neither thin nor thick, spreads and absorbs super easily and provides long lasting nourishment. The fragrance is amazing and smells not exactly like roses but of rose+ nivea’s signature fragrance mixed. I will definitely repurchase this. (Price: Rs 390 for 400 ml)

2. Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 840 Genius in the Bottle – Catrice cosmetics is a European makeup brand which was available in select stores in India few years back. I got this nailpolish from the Guardian pharmacy shop in DLF Promenade, Delhi and fell head over heels in love with this shade the moment I spotted it. 840 Genius in the Bottle is a gorgeous multichrome golden-olive-brown color with slight pearl effects. The shift in color is stunning and the color looks olive/gold/bronze depending on the light. Too bad I didn’t get to wear it as often as I would’ve liked before it expired and now I can’t find this brand anywhere in India. This shade Genius in the bottle is said to be a dupe of Chanel ‘Peridot’. Swatch at the end of this post.

See some other duochrome polishes reviewed on the blog HERE.

3. Chambor Dazzle Eye pencil Purple Dazzle – This is my most fav eyeliner color and I always always have a backup of this product. Purple Dazzle shade is a gorgeous blackish purple color with purple microglitter. If you love purple eye products, definitely check this one out. Read full review + Swatch in THIS post. (Price: Rs 645)

4. Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Body Lotion Indian Rose Absolute – Forest Essentials’ products rarely disappoint me (the rare exceptions being THIS recently launched lip care product and Aloe Water in THIS post). The Body lotion is amazing – texture wise, nourishment wise and fragrance wise. It is slightly runny and smells heavenly and truly of roses. This is a travel sized product and I already have another same product as part of gift set. I like to keep this in my handbag and use it as Hand cream. It provides instant nourishment and a burst of  beautiful fragrance. (Price: Rs 350 for 50 ml/ 1275 for 200 ml)

5. FabIndia Facial Water RoseWow! I didn’t realize that 3 out of 5 products in this post are rose scented. This is a mere coincidence 😀 So I got this rose facial water from FabIndia a while back and now I think they have revamped the packaging. It has spray pump and I like to spray it on my face in sweltering summer months or mix it in my ubtans/face pack. This is a decent rose water in budget range. (Price: Rs 290 for 100 ml)

Kiko Milano Power Pro Nail Lacquer : 24 Magenta ~ Review, Swatch

I have expressed my love for Kiko Milano nailpolish in many posts (HERE), and I have many more nailpolish from Kiko yet to review. In this post I am reviewing a super vibrant color from their Power Pro collection- Kiko Milano Power Pro Nail Lacquer in shade 24 ‘Magenta’. With winters in its last leg, this nailpolish brings a breath of fresh air (read color) with the incoming spring.

I have already reviewed two other shades from Kiko’s Power Pro range : 90 (Multicolor Mauve) and 94 (Mermaid Pink).

Price: Rs 550 for 11 ml

Shelf life: 3 years

Kiko Power Pro Special Nail Lacquer 24 Magenta Review

  • Kiko Milano Power Pro nail lacquer comes in cuboidal glass packaging with double cap and rounded edges. The outer rounded square cap is removable and reveals an easy grip striated brush cap. Kiko Milano logo is engraved on top of both the caps.
  • Shade number is written at the back on the peel off sticker booklet. Kiko doesnot write shade names, but only numbers on their products.
  • The brush is amazing. It is larger than normal ones, densely packed with rounded edge and follows the shape of nails without staining the skin. The brush helps a lot in fast and mess-free application. Full points for the brush.
  • Consistency of Power Pro nail lacquer is slightly thick and very creamy.  The pigmentation is insane and 1 thick coat gives full opacity. I like to apply 2 thin coats.
  • Kiko Milano Power Pro nail lacquer dries really fast. You barely have to wait between application of multiple coats.
  • The shade Magenta 24 is a deep barbie pink color with blue tones. It is quite a bright color without bordering on being neonish. This is not a magenta color exactly but magenta color with slight hints of violet.
  • The shade looks a tad deeper on nails than what it looks in bottle.
  • I think you can easily find a dupe for this color in Indian market.
  • Wear time is 4-5 days without chipping (without top coat), which is impressive.
  • This is bit expensive but the quantity is big.
  • The shade 24 Magenta is bright, popping blue based pink color which makes it a perfect Spring/ summer color.

Colorbar Arteffects- 24 Carat Gold Nail Lacquer ~ Olive Gold : Review & Swatch

I bought a few shades from 24 ct range of Colorbar nailpolish when they hadn’t revamped their nailpolish packaging. This is an amazing range with wide variety of gold shades. But now Colorbar has rebranded these shades under their Arteffects nailpolish range.  The packaging of Olive Gold is like the pic above. I have already reviewed other gorgeous shades from Arteffects 24 ct range – Liquid Gold, Pinken Gold.

Price: Rs 350 for 12 ml

Colorbar Arteffects Luxe Nail Lacquer Olive Gold Review

Colorbar has now standardized the nailpolish packaging. The swatch pics below are of old packaging. The new packaging looks like THIS and is thick, cube glass bottle which feels heavy. The brush is short and stout but wide enough to pick enough product for 1 coat application. The shade name is stickered at the bottom.

Olive gold as the name suggests is a beautiful yellow toned gold color with faint olive tones. It has a very faint pearly finish  which makes it more attractive. The consistency is quite sheer and takes 3 coats for full opacity. It dries very quickly and by the time you are done with first coat on all fingers, you can immediately start with next coat.

Colorbar claimed 24 ct range had duochrome effect, and to be honest I didn’t see any duochrome action with this nailpolish. But this is a beautiful shade nevertheless. Olive Gold is my favorite kind of gold color and if you like such shades, definitely check this one. This nailpolish will suit all skin tones across all age groups.

Wear time for this nailpolish is okay and chipping starts after 3-4 days. Price wise, it is okay for the quantity (12 ml).

Kiko Power Pro Nail Lacquer : 90 Multicolour Mauve ~ Review & Swatch

Kiko has an amazing nail polish collection, both in low price range and high range and I own a few Kiko Milano nail polish (Haul post HERE). The shade selection in every range is vast. Kiko Milano keeps launching new makeup collection every now and then and last year added a few shades to its Power Pro range. I have reviewed a limited edition nail lacquer from this range- shade Mermaid Pink HERE, and in this post I am reviewing another recently launched shade from the collection – 90 Multicolour Mauve.

Price: Rs 550 for 11 ml

Shelf life: 3 years

Kiko Power Pro Special Nail Lacquer 90 Multicolour Mauve Review

  • Kiko Milano Power Pro nail lacquer comes in cuboidal glass packaging with double cap and rounded edges. The outer rounded square cap removes to reveal an easy grip striated brush cap.
  • Consistency of Power Pro nail lacquer is neither thick, nor runny and pigmentation is rich. It takes 2 coats for full opacity.
  • Like almost all Kiko Milano nailpolish, Power Pro nail lacquer dries really fast.
  • The shade Multicolor Mauve 90 is a beautiful copper, red and golden shimmer suspended in mauve base. The mauve tones are more visible in single coat and with two coats the copper shimmer overpowers the mauve base color. The shimmer is very heavy and the overall color looks beautiful, especially in direct light/ flash.
  • I don’t think the shade is VERY extraordinary (unlike THIS shade by Kiko), and you can find a dupe in Indian market easily.
  • Wear time is 4-5 days without chipping, which is impressive.
  • This is bit expensive but the quantity is big.
  • The shade Multicolour Mauve 90 looks elegant yet modern and makes a perfect fall color. It can be carried off by women of all age groups.

Forest Essentials Shea Butter & Pomegranate Lip Cream Review

So Shea Butter & Pomegranate Lip cream is one of the latest launches from Forest Essentials, and since their lip balms is my absolute absolute favorite (Reviewed HERE), I HAD to try this lip cream. Read on to know how it fared.

Price: Rs 675 for 10 g

Shelf Life: 2 years

Forest Essentials Shea Butter & Pomegranate Lip Cream Review

  • Unlike their lip balm, this product is marketed as Lip ‘Cream’ and so comes in a different packing than the lip balm. It comes in a white and silver tube packaging with attractive floral art. The applicator is the slanted tip with hole to dispense product (much like the original Vaseline/ Himalaya lip balms). The applicator part is covered with a black screw cap. The back contains all the product details.
  • Also unlike the lip balm, it does not come in additional cardboard packaging.
  • Texture is exactly what the name suggests- creamy. Being a cream it has more slip on the lips than the usual balms and may feel a bit off at the starting especially if you apply more than required quantity, since we are accustomed to applying waxy lip balms. But after sometime the lip cream absorbs nicely and feels more comfortable.
  • Forest Essentials Shea Butter & Pomegranate Lip Cream does its job well. It makes lips soft and supple and heals chapped bits.
  • Forest Essentials is a heaven for amazing smelling products. But surprisingly, this lip cream smells too sweet and artificial for my liking. I was expecting some hints of pomegranate or any other natural fragrance, but the smell disappointed me!
  • It stays for 3-4 hours easily.
  • The quantity is much more than the lip balms (10 g vs 4 g), and only a teeny tiny amount is needed for 1 application. So this product will last a fairly long time. It is still bit expensive for a lip balm/cream , but this is what is expected from Forest Essentials, as after all it is ‘Luxurious’ Ayurveda, right?

Overall, Shea Butter & pomegranate Lip cream is just okay and does its job fine. It is not a lip balm but a cream so do not expect same texture as the balm. It has more slip at the starting but settles down to comfortable finish after sometime. It does its job nicely, makes lips soft and supple. However, the smell is off putting and feels too sweet, artificial and strong for my liking. As compared to the lip balm, it has more quantity and lasts longer. Only a little quantity is needed for one application. But I will still stick to my fav lip balm FE Sweet Narangi Juice, and probably will not repurchase this lip cream.

(Even lesser quantity is enough on the lips)
