Kiko Milano Power Pro Nail Lacquer : 10 Hibiscus Red ~ Review, Swatch

Kiko is definitely a brand to watch out for, a must try brand for any nailpolish lover. The shade range is insane and quality top notch! My love for Kiko Milano is already expressed in many posts (HERE), and I have many more nailpolish from Kiko still to review.

In this post I am reviewing another vibrant shade from their Power Pro collection- Kiko Milano Power Pro Nail Lacquer in shade 10 ‘Hibiscus Red’.

Some other shades from Kiko’s Power Pro range I have reviewed previously are:

24 (Magenta)

90 (Multicolor Mauve)

94 (Mermaid Pink).

Price: Rs 550 for 11 ml

Shelf life: 3 years

Kiko Power Pro Special Nail Lacquer 10 Hibiscus Red Review

  • Kiko Milano Power Pro nail lacquer comes in cuboidal glass packaging with double cap and rounded edges. The outer rounded square cap is removable and reveals an easy grip striated brush cap. Kiko Milano logo is engraved on top of both the caps.
  • Shade number is written at the back on the peel off sticker booklet. Kiko doesnot write shade names, but only numbers on their products.
  • The brush is amazing. It is larger than normal ones, densely packed with rounded edge and follows the shape of nails without staining the skin. The brush helps a lot in fast and mess-free application.
  • Consistency of Power Pro nail lacquer is slightly thick and very creamy.  The thick consistency makes the nails look plump, almost like gel polish.
  • Pigmentation is insane and 1 thick coat gives full opacity. I like to apply 2 thin coats.
  • Kiko power Pro nail lacquer range is self-levelling so you do not end up with brush strokes.
  • Kiko Milano Power Pro nail lacquer dries really fast. You barely have to wait between application of multiple coats.
  • The shade 10 Hibiscus Red  is not a true red but a bright coral red color which looks vibrant and lively on the nails. The finish is highly glossy.
  • The shade looks a tad deeper on nails than what it looks in bottle.
  • This is bit expensive but the quantity is big.
  • Being a bright color, this will suit fair to medium skin tones.
  • The shade 10 Hibiscus Red is a summery color which will brighten up the whole look.

Colorbar 1001 Shades of Love Nail Lacquer ~ 412 Italian Spice : Review & Swatch

Colorbar has recently launched its ‘1001 Shades of Love’ collection and I bought a few shades from Colorbar’s official website. See the shades I picked in Haul post HERE.  I am reviewing a gorgeous brownish orange shade – Italian Spice in this post.

Price: Rs 199 for 10 ml

Expiry: 3 years

Colorbar  Nail Lacquer Italian Spice Review

  • Colorbar has relaunched its entire nail polish collection as ‘1001 Shades of Love’. These 1001 Shades are categorized under different range : Luxe range, Matte range, Arteffects range etc. Italian Spice is from the normal range of Colorbar nail lacquer.
  • Colorbar has not revamped the packaging, it is the same as previous bottle, only with a couple of tweaks. The colorbar logo now has a heart instead of ‘B’, and the cap of the nail polish is brown chrome color with new hearts logo of Colorbar on top. Other than this, the packaging and the brush is same as their last packaging (Read more about packaging and brush HERE)
  • Pigmentation is amazing and gives full opacity in 1 coat. I still apply two coats for better wear time.
  • Consistency is creamy and application is uniform and non streaky. It dries quick.
  • Italian Spice is a beautiful burnt orange/ rust color with glossy finish. This shades reminds me of Halloween and will make a pretty Fall color.
  • Colorbar’s website depicts this color as proper brown, but in reality this is more orange than brown. If you buy through the Colorbar official website, don’t trust the colors shown there.
  • Pricewise this is a good buy for the quantity.
  • Colorbar claims it is formulated with a 7-free formula: without formaldehydes, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, paraben, and xylene

Pssst, if you are looking for similar shade in a lip product, check out THIS liquid lipstick by Chambor.

Sugar Tip Tac Toe Nail Lacquer Pro: Sapphire Straits ~ Review & Swatch

I have a few Sugar Tip Tac Toe nailpolish which I never seem to be able to review on the blog. Sugar has a wide range of nail lacquers under different finish and this is from the metallic range. I have reviewed another metallic shade from this range- ‘Deep Down Diopside‘ (beautiful sea green color) and a few shades from the Arabian Nights range HERE. In this post I am reviewing a gorgeous blue shade – Sapphire Straits.

Price: Rs 299 for 10 ml

Shelf Life: 2 years

Sugar Tip Tac Toe Nail Lacquer Pro Sapphire Straits Review

  • Sugar Tip Tac Toe nail lacquer come in cuboidal glass packaging with black cap.
  • The nailpolish bottle is housed in cardboard packaging with all necessary details on the sides. The shade name is written on a tiny sticker along the side of the cardboard packaging, so it is difficult to sort if you stash the polish along with its outer packing.
  • The brush is short and straight ended which makes the application messy around the curve of nail bed. I like U-shaped brush like in THIS nailpolish.
  • Tip Tac Toe Pro nail lacquer is amazingly pigmented and gives full coverage in one coat itself.
  • Like any metallic nail color, this nailpolish is bit streaky so you need to apply it carefully to avoid visible brush strokes.
  • Sapphire Straits is a gorgeous metallic icy blue color. The shade looks nothing like sapphire (which is dark blue)
  • Tip Tac Toe nail lacquer Pro dries really fast. One of the fastest drying polishes I have tried (and I have tried many! :D). This makes it perfect for times when you want to apply in jiffy.
  • Tip Tac Toe nail polish have Nine-free formula: No parabens, formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, xylene, formaldehyde resin, acetone and ethyl tosylamide.

Haul: Colorbar Nailpolish – 1001 Shades of Love

Colorbar has recently launched the widest palette of nailpolish colors available in any brand- 1001 Shades of Love. It has so many shades under so many finish- be it textured or glossy or chrome or matte or glitter. And so obviously I couldn’t help but pick a few shades myself 😀

These are the shades I bought:

  • 412 Italian Spice
  • 469 Hotel de Paris
  • 856 Jackpot
  • 1086 Pineapple
  • 1301 Pepper Pink (Arteffects range)
  • 1352 Chameleon (Arteffects range)

I have bought these nailpolish online through the Colorbar website and I have noticed the colors are not exactly how it looks there. The Arteffects range is true to what it shows but the other shades look a tad deeper on the site than what it really is. So do keep that in mind if you order the shades through their official website.

I will post the review of these polishes soon. I have swatched the shade Chameleon on my Instagram handle HERE.

Other shades will follow soon 🙂

20 Holi Tips for Skin and Hair

Holi tips for skin and hair

Holi is here!!! I get very excited when the festival of colors is around. Holi is famous for two things: Color and gujiyas. I have a sweet tooth and homemade gujiyas  are always so tempting, specially the ones made by my mother.Totally mouth-watering. Anyways, coming to the point, Holi colors have harmful chemicals which may harm the skin. And we should use herbal gulals and colors… Duh!  Everyone knows this girl…  But what to do when the person applying color on you is not using one?  How to prevent your skin from getting stained?  To not look like a canvas for modern art with colorful blotches scattered on your face,  protect your skin and hair from the harmful effects of the holi colors by following these tips:

1. First and foremost, never step out to play Holi without smearing your exposed areas with a thick layer of coconut oil/ olive oil/vaseline. (This is my savior every year)

2. Wear long sleeved clothes and full length bottoms.

3. Wear sunscreen. I have noticed my skin getting more tanned on Holi.

4.  Oil your hair generously. It gives the hair a protective covering and shields it from harmful chemicals, dust and dirt.It will also help the colors come off easily later.

5. Cover your head with a bandana, scarf or a cap.

6. Tie up your hair. Tying up gives lesser area of your head to be exposed to colors giving an added advantage to have lesser stains to worry about.

7. Wear cotton clothes. Synthetics will become sticky and body hugging  and denims will be heavy once you have a bucket full of water splashed on you

8. Apply lip balm or vaseline on your lips.

9. Apply nail polish or multiple coats of clear topcoat on your nails to avoid getting your nails stained.

10. Never wear contact lenses while playing Holi. Never ever! The color can come between your eye and lens which can prove very harmful.

11. Apply some oil behind the ears, on earlobes and under the nails, as these are the ignored areas and the color tends to settle here.

12. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from a misfire of color filled darts or water jets.

13. Try to wash off the colors while wet. The earliest, the better. For once if the colors dry, it becomes a bit difficult to get rid of them easily

14. Keep a calamine lotion ready in case of an allergy.

15. If possible, wear socks to keep your heels protected.

16. Stay away from bleaching or highlighting your hair before Holi. The colors can turn the hair a totally unwanted pink, green or purple.

17. Don’t sit in sunlight after playing Holi. The colors on exposure to sunlight may harm the skin even  more.

18.  Don’t get a facial done up to a week before Holi. Facials tend to make skin more sensitive setting you up for inflammation.

19. Always clean your face with a cleansing milk or lotion with a cotton wool after playing with colors. Never wash your face with harsh soaps.

20. And the most important, DO NOT drive if you are high on alcohol or bhang.

Stay safe and enjoy. Have a Happy and Colorful Holi!

Kiko Milano Smart Fast Dry Nail Lacquer : 70 Pearly Dark Vermillion ~ Review & Swatch

If you don’t know Kiko Milano by now, you have been living under a rock. They have a HUGE selection of makeup and nail polishes in both budget and high end price range, and in all the colors you can imagine. I have reviewed a gorgeous lipstick HERE and a few nailpolishes HERE. In this post I am reviewing another range of Kiko nail lacquer- Smart Fast dry in the shade 70 Pearly Dark Vermillion.

Price: Rs 250 for 7 ml

Expiry : 3 years

Kiko Milano Smart Fast Dry Nail Lacquer 70 Pearly Dark Vermillion Review

  • Kiko Milano Smart Fast dry nail lacquer comes in flat, sleek, cuboidal packaging with matte black  cap and Kiko logo engraved at top. The sleek packaging makes it easy to store and travel with.
  • Shade number is written at the back on the peel off sticker booklet. Kiko doesnot write shade names, but only numbers on their products. I picked the shade name for this nailpolish from their official website.
  • The brush is short and not as good as the Pro range but for the price of the nailpolish the brush is decent. It picks enough nailpolish for one coat application.
  • Kiko Nail lacquer 070 Pearly Dark Vermillion is a beautiful deep cherry red color with subtle pearl effect. The shimmer is not much visible but only if you look very carefully, yet it gives a beautiful dimension to the color. The color looks similar to the Christmas ornaments.
  • Unlike THIS nailpolish range by Kiko, Smart nail lacquer range show same color on the nails as it looks in the bottle.
  • Consistency of this nail lacquer is neither thick, nor runny and pigmentation is decent, goes opaque in 2-3 coats.
  • The finish is glossy but starts to fade after 2 days.
  • Kiko nail polishes are quick drying and you dont have to wait much before applying multiple coats.
  • Shade 70 Pearly Dark Vermillion is not a unique color and you can easily find dupes in Indian market.
  • Pricewise the nail lacquer is not expensive.
  • The shade is a mature color and will suit most Indian skintones. This is the kind of color you can gift to your mum.

Empties Vol. 6 + Mini Reviews

So these are my recent empties with their mini reviews.

  1. Nivea Oil in Lotion Rose & Argan Oil – Nivea recently launched 3 new variants in its body lotion and this was one of them. I really liked this lotion and this is already my 3rd bottle 😛 The lotion is neither thin nor thick, spreads and absorbs super easily and provides long lasting nourishment. The fragrance is amazing and smells not exactly like roses but of rose+ nivea’s signature fragrance mixed. I will definitely repurchase this. (Price: Rs 390 for 400 ml)

2. Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 840 Genius in the Bottle – Catrice cosmetics is a European makeup brand which was available in select stores in India few years back. I got this nailpolish from the Guardian pharmacy shop in DLF Promenade, Delhi and fell head over heels in love with this shade the moment I spotted it. 840 Genius in the Bottle is a gorgeous multichrome golden-olive-brown color with slight pearl effects. The shift in color is stunning and the color looks olive/gold/bronze depending on the light. Too bad I didn’t get to wear it as often as I would’ve liked before it expired and now I can’t find this brand anywhere in India. This shade Genius in the bottle is said to be a dupe of Chanel ‘Peridot’. Swatch at the end of this post.

See some other duochrome polishes reviewed on the blog HERE.

3. Chambor Dazzle Eye pencil Purple Dazzle – This is my most fav eyeliner color and I always always have a backup of this product. Purple Dazzle shade is a gorgeous blackish purple color with purple microglitter. If you love purple eye products, definitely check this one out. Read full review + Swatch in THIS post. (Price: Rs 645)

4. Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Body Lotion Indian Rose Absolute – Forest Essentials’ products rarely disappoint me (the rare exceptions being THIS recently launched lip care product and Aloe Water in THIS post). The Body lotion is amazing – texture wise, nourishment wise and fragrance wise. It is slightly runny and smells heavenly and truly of roses. This is a travel sized product and I already have another same product as part of gift set. I like to keep this in my handbag and use it as Hand cream. It provides instant nourishment and a burst of  beautiful fragrance. (Price: Rs 350 for 50 ml/ 1275 for 200 ml)

5. FabIndia Facial Water RoseWow! I didn’t realize that 3 out of 5 products in this post are rose scented. This is a mere coincidence 😀 So I got this rose facial water from FabIndia a while back and now I think they have revamped the packaging. It has spray pump and I like to spray it on my face in sweltering summer months or mix it in my ubtans/face pack. This is a decent rose water in budget range. (Price: Rs 290 for 100 ml)
