Colorbar Arteffects Luxe Nail Lacquer ~ Snow White : Review & Swatch

Colorbar has changed its nailpolish packaging and launched some new range. Arteffects range of Colorbar nailpolish has some of the old shades (24 ct collection & Heavy metal collection) and some new shades.

I am reviewing a beautiful glitter off-white shade from Colorbar Arteffects range in this post- Snow White 26.

Price: Rs 325 for 12 ml

Colorbar Arteffects Luxe Nail Lacquer Snow White Review

Colorbar has changed its nailpolish packaging and now all the range have same packaging- thick, cube glass bottle with short brush. The nailpolish bottle feels heavy and bulky and honestly I liked the previous bottle more. Stacking of these nailpolish now takes up more space (I had to carry 5-6 while moving from Delhi to Mumbai, so I know how inconvenient this packaging is especially for travel).  The brush cap is silver colored with ‘CB’ logo embossed at the top. The shade name and other details are stickered at the bottom. The brush is short and wide and slighly rounded which helps in clean application (I ike rounded brush like THESE).

The pigmentation is slightly sheer and needs 3 coats for full opacity. Being sheer, this may also be used as a top coat. This nailpolish feel smooth to touch and not at all  gritty or sand textured like other glitter nailpolish.

Snow White is a beautiful off white color with heavy shimmer. The glitter is very fine so it doesnot stand out against the nailpolish like THIS nailpolish, but gives a beautiful dimension to the overall color. The small glitter are holographic and the holographic effect is slightly visible in pic at the top of this post. Being holographic, the shimmer appears to be multicolor and looks beautiful against the off white color. This shade is a beautiful alternative to silver and white colors.

Price is a bit high but this is a big bottle so it is ok if you do the math, compared to other nailpolish in market (Maybelline’s Colorshow range is Rs 175 for 6 ml). Tip wear is after 2 days and proper chipping starts after 4-5 days.

I have used this nailpolish in Christmas nail art I did recently HERE.

Overall, Colorbar Arteffects Luxe Nailpolish comes in short, glass bottle which feels bulky and heavy compared to Colorbar’s previous packaging. The brush is short and slightly rounded which helps in clean application. The consistency is sheer and needs 3 coats for full coverage. Price wise, this nailpolish is okay for its price as the quantity is big (12 ml). The shade Snow White is a gorgeous off white shade with holographic  small glitter which gives it a beautiful dimension. It lasts 4-5 days with tip wear setting after 2 days. I am in love with this shade. This is such a nice alternative to white and silver. I will repurchase this color, though I think this bottle will last fairly a long time.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Here is a nail art for Christmas I did today. The colors I used for this nail art coordinate perfectly with the christmas spirit. You can skip painting the tree on thumb and replace it with any green color.

Green: Revlon nailpolish in shade ‘Splash‘ (Reviewed HERE)

Kiko Nail Lacquer – 521 Pearly Ocean: Review & Swatch

Kiko makes really good nailpolishes at very affordable price. Nail lacquer range is the least expensive of all Kiko nailpolishes with such a HUGE (capital letters) spectrum of colors. The quality is very good and shade selection is Uh-may-zing! They have almost every color that you can wish for. I have 12 shades of this range with me as of now (which will keep on increasing depending on my visit to the store :D). You can check the other colors I picked  in my Haul Post HERE.

Price: Rs 290 for 11 ml

Kiko Nail Lacquer 521 Pearly Ocean Review

Kiko nail lacquer’s packaging reminds me of Colorbar’s previous nailpolish packaging (now they have standardized the packaging to thick square bottles). Kiko nail polish comes in cuboidal packaging with black cap. The shade number and other details are sticker-ed at the back. Kiko doesnot have names to its shades, but only numbers. I picked the shade name for this nailpolish from its official website. The brush is decent, not very thin not thick. It picks enough nailpolish for one coat application.

Kiko Nail lacquer 521 Pearly ocean is  gorgeous turquoise blue color with blue pearly shimmer. The color is super vibrant and the swatches below do not do justice to it. It has a slight pinkish-purple sheen which is not visible on the nails as such but can be seen in bottle if you look at it sideways. This gives the nailpolish a beautiful iridiscence. The consistency is slightly sheer and but goes opaque in 2-3 coats. Kiko nail polishes are quick drying and you dont have to wait much before applying coats (if you apply thin coats).

Kiko nail lacquer 521 (Pearly Ocean) being a shimmer nailpolish is smooth to apply, but takes a bit more time to remove.

Coming to the wear time, Kiko nail polishes stay fairly long and I could see only a slight tip wear after 3 days (which normally starts next day itself with other nail polishes). Proper chipping started after 6-7 days which is impressive!

I apply nailpolishes after applying a base coat so I didnot see any staining, but I have read that this particular shade may stain the nails, so apply this after using a base coat.

Pssst, The shade is more vibrant and turquoise- surf blue than the swatches below.

Overall, I am in love with Kiko nailpolishes. This brand has become my absolute fav.  From color, to the quality, to the wear time, to the price, this nailpolish is a dream. The huge shade selection will make you go crazy and whichever color your heart desires, they will most probably have it, The testers for the nailpolish makes it so much easy for the customers to try before buying a shade (something Indian brands should learn!). Price wise, these are super affordable (at par with Indian brands) but so much better in quality. Shade 521 Pearly Ocean is a vibrant turquoise blue color with blue shimmer. The color is gorgeous and I couldnot help myself looking at my hands again and again when I applied this. If you love blue on you nails, definitely check this one.

Kiko Milano Haul

This haul post from Kiko Milano was loooong overdue and some of the purchases were done last year when the store first opened in Delhi.

Kiko Milano store in Delhi is pretty big (compared to other makeup stores) with a HUGE range of makeup, be it lipsticks or nailpolish or eye makeup or skincare. The best thing about the store is that almost all the makeup has testers, even the nailpolish! Indian brands do not keep testers for nailpolish (except Chambor).  The price range for almost all the makeup is wide, starting from affordable to mid-expensive. Plus, the stores in India are in line with the new launches internationally.

So here are the things I picked:

  • Kiko Nail lacquer:  This is the first section I check out when I visit the store. The wide selection of colors look gorgeous on the display. Plus tester for every shade meant I HAD to buy a couple of these. And I obviously could not restrain myself 😛 The shades I picked are: 521, 479, 493, 530, 497, 298, 504, 277, 226, 335, 261, 357. You can check swatch of some of the shades I have worn on my Instagram. Full fledged reviews are coming soon.
  • Kiko Power Pro Nail Lacquer in shade 073
  • Kiko Glitter Metal Nail Lacquer in shade 002
  • Kiko Perfect Gel Duo (Nail lacquer+ top coat) shade 671
  • Kiko Glossamer Emotion Lipstick shade 111
  • Kiko Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick shade 311
  • Kiko Longwear Lasting Color Lip marker (not in pic): shade 105
  • Kiko Smart Eye pencil  (not in pic) shade 800

Avon Metallic Effects Nail Enamel : Jade Reflection ~ Review & Swatch

I am impressed with Avon nailpolish especially the Metallic range which has some really beautiful colors. I have reviewed the shade Icy Purple (right one in pic above) and a gorgeous emerald color Noir Emerald (centre in pic) and here I am reviewing shade Jade Reflection.

Price: Rs 249 for 8 ml

Avon Metallic Effects Nail Enamel Jade Reflection review

Avon Metallic effects nail enamel comes in rectangular packaging with shade name written on the front. The brush is short and decent, not too bad not too great either. The straight tip makes the application messy around the cuticles. I always prefer rounded brush (like in THIS nailpolish).

Jade Reflection is a beautiful moss green color with a metallic finish.  The formula is rich and creamy. The consistency is great, neither thick nor thin. The pigmentation is excellent and gives full opacity in one coat. I have still applied two coats in the swatches below. Like any other metallic polishes, the brush strokes are visible so apply it carefully and neatly. This nail polish dries quickly.

This is not very long lasting nail polish just like many metallic nailpolish. Minor tip wear starts next day itself if you don’t wear a topcoat. Also, the shine tends to dull after 2-3 days. Proper chipping sets in after 4-5 days.

Overall, Avon Metallic effects nail enamel in shade Jade Reflection is a beautiful metallic moss green color. The pigmentation is impressive and 1 coat goes fully opaque. However, the brush strokes are visible so you need to apply it carefully. It dries quickly and shine stays put for 2-3 days after which it starts to dull. The only drawback I could find is that these are not long lasting. But an additional top coat can always prolong the wear time. I am in love with the unique color and you should check this out if you love metallic nail colors.

Finally! Peel Off Base coat for Glitter polish in India : YLG Nails 365 Review

Attention all glitter nailpolish fans! Our prayers have been answered. We finally have a peel off Glitter nail polish base coat in India. Bless you YLG Salon for introducing one. We can safely wear glitter nailpolish again without worrying about the aftermath that follows while removing it. My remover dipped cotton ball literally used to shred when I removed those stubborn glitter polishes. Even though I used THIS method for removing glitter, it was still cumbersome and time consuming.

So I stumbled upon this peel off base coat on Amazon and I immediately added to cart.

Price: Rs 299 for 9 ml

YLG Peel Off Base coat review

YLG Peel off base coat comes in square packaging housed in a white cardboard box. There is a mini leaflet inside containing all the necessary details. The brush is short but ok.  The consistency is runny. It smells weirdly of fevicol glue. But it does its job pretty well! I apply two coats and allow each coat to dry completely. Since this is water soluble, make sure your hands are completely dry before you apply. Also, do not wet your hands after you apply this base coat, i.e. before applying glitter nailpolish as the base coat will start to remove. YLG Peel off base coat applies milky white, but turns transparent when dry.

For removal, just grab the glittery nailpolish from the base of nail and start peeling.

Now coming to the cons part, I feel with the peel off base coat on, the glitter nailpolishes don’t stay as long as they do without this base coat. The nailpolish starts to peel on its own in 2-3 days only (especially around tip/base). Also, if you do a bit of cooking at home, I  DO NOT recommend this base coat. Once I was kneading the dough and I could see the glitter nailpolish from all my fingers sliding into the dough :-/

But other than that, I think this is a great base coat and makes removal of glitter nailpolish a dream.

Overall, YLG Peel Off base coat for glitter nailpolish is a saviour for all glitter polish lovers. It makes the removal of glitter polish a dream. YLG Peel off base coat is milky white in color with fevicol glue type smell. It applies white but dries transparent. The removal part is incredibly easy. However, I feel the wear time for nailpolish reduces when applied using this base coat. Also, make sure not to do any cooking (especially kneading) with this base coat on as the glitter nailpolish will slide off and knead into the dough. Ugh!
