L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse lipstick – Rose Blossom

L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse were launched quite a while back and I immediately bought the shade Rose Blossom from the range. I had completely forgotten posting about it, but since this range is still available on counters as well as online, I am reviewing this gorgeous shade Rose Blossom in this post. Better late than never, right?

Price – Rs 1050 for 0.9 g

L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse Rose Blossom Review

L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse lipstick come in quite an interesting packaging. It was probably the first sponge tip powder lipstick launched back in the day. L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse comes in attractive gold and red gradient packaging which looks luxurious at first sight. It is elongated, cylindrical, sleek and shuts tight with screw mechanism. Like all L’Oreal lipsticks, it comes wrapped in plastic transparent sheet which contain all the important info about the product.

The gradient color on the packaging is color coded to the shade of the tint, so it is easier to spot if you have multiple shades. The interesting part about the packaging is that the main body of the lipstick contain only the dome shaped sponge tip applicator. The actual lipstick is inside the cap. The sponge cushion is of good quality and does not flake after continued applications. The applicator is different from the ones in THIS and THIS lipstick. Plus it is very convenient and easy to use, especially around edges and corners. The applicator has an inbuilt spring in the tube which ensures proper coating of lipstick on the sponge tip from the cap when you shut it. The shade name is written along the end of the product. The overall packaging looks high end and prettifies the vanity.

When this lipstick came out, Korean gradient lips were in trend and the sponge tip helps to achieve the look, where maximum intensity of color is at the centre of the lips and the intensity fades out along the edges. The sponge cushion tip does a great job in creating that gradient effect.

Since these lipsticks are marketed not as ‘lipsticks’ but as tints, the pigmentation is low but gives a nice blotted effect in 1-2 swipes. It needs 3-4 passes to build the full color intensity. It glides effortlessly and doesnot feel you are wearing anything on lips AT ALL. Unlike THESE lip stains by The Body Shop which are water based, L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse are powder based and even during application you donot feel you are applying a lip product. It is extremely light weight and neither dries, nor hydrates the lips. As this is a tint, it doesnot transfer. The fragrance is fruity which is not bothersome and doesnot linger for long. It gives a soft matte finish which doesnot emphasize fine lines like other matte lipsticks do.

The shade Rose Blossom is a beautiful warm red with orange tones. The blotted effect it gives in 1-2 swipes makes it ideal for daily use.

Unfortunately, L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse doesnot last very long. It starts to fade after a light meal, and completely vanishes if you have a heavy oily meal. Without meal, it stays for good 5-6 hours.

The price is also a con. It is quite expensive for the product quantity (0.9 g!) it comes in.

Overall, this is a fancy lip product with an amazing and innovative packaging concept, but it is not a necessity in my opinion. I have reviewed similar lipstick shades by Kiko Milano (HERE) and The Body Shop stain (HERE).

I’m wearing THIS nailpolish by Kiko here.

Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick : Review & Swatches

Happy new year everyone! 🙂

I am starting this year by reviewing my most favorite launch in last year – Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick.

Nykaa initially launched these lipsticks in 10 shades and keep adding new shades to this collection from time to time.

Price: Rs 550 599 for 5 ml

Expiry- 3 years

Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick review

Nykaa Matte to Last liquid lipstick shades are inspired by the cities of India. So each shade has unique city associated and the packaging has the important monument from the city where the shade is inspired from. Nykaa Matte to Last liquid lipstick comes in a black cardboard packaging with attractive art and shade name written at front. The inside of cardboard packaging is bit flimsy and is color coded with the lipstick shade. The back of the packaging has all the necessary details about the product. The overall outer packaging is bit bulky and likely to be thrown away if you own multiple shades.

The lipstick is small, compact cuboidal tube with black screw cap.  The packaging is transparent which makes it easier to spot the colors if you have multiple shades, plus it also helps in knowing how much product is left. The liquid lipstick has slanted doe foot applicator with a slightly pointed tip which makes it easy to use. The applicator wand is tiny but picks up enough product for one swipe. The shade name is sticker-ed on bottom of the tube. Lipstick tube is extremely travel friendly and has no chance of spillage or accidental opening.

Texture wise it is smooth and feather light.  It feels watery while applying on the lips. These lipsticks are extremely light weight and sometimes I forget I have a lipstick on. These lipsticks do not feel drying like other matte liquid lipsticks do. These lipsticks are highly pigmented (except a few shades) and most shades give opaque coverage in 1-2 swipe. Freshly applied, the texture looks glossy but it settles to true matte finish in sometime after pressing the lips together. It will have a bit of shine and not become matte until you press the lips together. It is decently long lasting but doesnot survive full meals. If you eat something light it may stay put for ~6 hours. But the good thing is it is easy to touch up and does not feel rubbery on applying multiple swipes.

One it mattifies, the lipstick is completely transfer proof.

Price wise, this is not very expensive for the quality it offers. If you like liquid matte lippies, you must own at least one shade from this range.

Like all matte formulations, do exfoliate the lips before applying any matte lipstick as it will cling to the dry bits of the lips accentuating them even more.

Shades swatched in this post:

Madras Kaapi – inspired by Chennai (Madras), it is warm toned light brown. The shade works across skintones and wheatish and dusky complexion especially should definitely check this out.

Kudi – inspired by Chandigarh, it is a bright, popping fuchsia pink color. Perfect for spring/summer and since this a super bright color it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Mishti– inspired by Kolkata – deep raspberry red with pinkish tones, works across skintones. The color is amazing but wish the formula was better.

Boho – inspired by Goa. This is a beautiful everyday pink with mauve hints. It will look flattering on all skin tones

Mumtaz (Mumtaj) – inspired by Agra , it is a bright orangish tomato red color. It will suit fair to medium skin tones. (Another matte tomato red lipstick reviewed HERE)

The first three shades (Madras Kaapi, Kudi and Mishti) are among the few shades from their phase 1 launch and the formula is more watery and applies patchy. It also takes longer time to dry. The quantity of these is 4.5 ml but the shades launched in later phases has 5 ml product. I am not sure if Nykaa has changed the quantity of these shades as well now and improved the formula for these initial shades.

Kiko Milano Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick : Poppy Red (311) ~ Review & Swatch

Kiko Milano is already becoming my favorite brand for nailpolish and I have quite a few Kiko products with me. In my Kiko Haul post (which is only a part of my Kiko collection btw!), I also bought a couple of lipsticks (which are long pending for review). In this post I am reviewing Velvet Passion Matte lipstick in shade 311 (Poppy Red).

There are atleast 12 different range of lipsticks in Kiko store, creamy to matte to liquid to bullet, you name it and they have it, each probably in 10+ shades to choose from. And the pricing starting from drugstore price to mid-high end price. Velvet Passion Matte lipstick is definitely in the high range of their pricing. Also, all their expensive lippies come in an interesting packaging.

Price: Rs 1050 for 3.5g

Kiko Milano Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick 311 Poppy Red Review

Kiko Milano Velvet Passion Matte lipsticks come in black cardboard packaging which has all the necessary manufacturing, ingredients and pricing details. The shade number is written on the flap.  Kiko does not mention the shade name in any of its products, only the shade number. The lipstick comes in distinctive matte grey and gold aluminium tube which is quite unique and attractive. The cap of lipstick is magnetic and shuts tight securely. The matte gold and grey packaging looks futuristic and luxurious. The lipstick has Kiko Milano’s KK logo engraved at the top and shade number stickered at the bottom.

The lipstick bullet has a unique shape and the square tip helps in easy and precise application. It has swivel up mechanism and the bullet has KK logo engraved on the side.

Shade Poppy Red 311 is a beautiful tomato red color with hints of orange. The shade instantly brightens up the face. If you are afraid to wear orange lipsticks, orange based reds like this are a safe bet. Pigmentation of Velvet Passion lipsticks is amazing and needs 2 layers for full color. It is smooth to apply and glides effortlessly without any tugging. Texture is velvety matte  which is comfortable on the lips and doesnot make the lips dry at all. The texture reminds me of Moisture matte lipsticks by L’Oreal. L’Oreal ones are a tad creamier than these though. I donot feel the need to moisturize my lips separately before applying this, as I do for other matte lipsticks. The lipstick itself provides enough hydration. Also, the texture is thin and doesnot feel like I have any lipstick on my lips.

The lipstick doesnot accentuates fine lines or stick to dry bits like most matte lipsticks do. Instead, it blurs out any imperfections.

Being creamy matte, it is not completely transferproof but transfers only a little. Lasts 4-5 hours (with meal) after which it fades evenly to a beautiful stain.

It has faint vanilla fragrance which doesnot linger for long.

Velvet passion matte lipstick’s packaging, finish and texture totally justifies the high price of this lipstick.

If you are looking for a similar shade in budget price, check Maybelline lipstick in THIS post. Maybelline one is tad more orange than this.

The nailpolish I am wearing is THIS nailpolish, also by Kiko Milano

Overall, Kiko Milano Velvet Passion Matte lipstick come in an interesting and unique packaging. The grey- gold aluminium packaging with magnetic closure looks attractive and luxurious. The lipstick is housed in black cardboard packaging which has all the necessary details. The lipstick bullet also is uniquely shaped and the square tip helps in easy and precise application. The pigmentation is amazing and delivers full color in 2 swipes. The texture is what sets it apart from other matte lipsticks in market. The velvety matte texture doesnot dry the lips and is quite comfortable to wear. Lasts 4-5 hours (including meal) after which it leaves a beautiful stain. Shade Poppy Red (311) is a beautiful tomato red color with hints of orange. The shade instantly brightens the face and will suit most Indian skintones. The lipstick is bit pricey but is totally worth the money. Will definitely repurchase!

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor : Firecracker Red ~ Review & Swatch

With the season of deep colors coming to an end now, its time to whip out some vibrant shades. One such shade (which I wore entire last summer) is this beautiful orange lipstick from Maybelline. Maybelline has a wide range of lipsticks and Colorshow range has been around for sometime now. I have two shades from this range and I have reviewed a gorgeous vibrant pink color- Flaming Fuchsia HERE. In this post I am reviewing another beautiful shade- Firecracker Red.

Price: Rs 325 for 3.9 g

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor Firecracker Red Review

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor comes in black matte packaging with color coded band at the centre. The band doesnot code the actual shade but only the color family. Flaming Fuchsia shade has a pink band, this one has red band. This is a normal swivel up bullet packaging. The shade name is stickered at the bottom of the bullet. It has a fruity smell which does not linger for long.

The texture of these lipsticks is creamy matte. It glides on the lips easily and gives opaque coverage in two swipes. It is a  super comfortable lipstick to wear and does not dry the lips. However, being somewhat creamy in texture, it is prone to transfer. The lipstick gets into lines after sometime and accentuates the dry flaky bits so exfoliate the lips before applying.

Firecracker Red shade is a beautiful deep orange color (red with lots of orange). The reddish tones makes it quite a wearable shade, especially if you don’t like to wear orange lipsticks. If you like to venture into the orange lipstick world, this should be a safe buy. This lipstick will work across skin tones. The swatches below don’t do justice to the beauty of this color.

Price wise, this is a pretty good buy. Not too expensive and lasts a long time. Quality and pigmentation is superb. It lasts 4-5 hours which is okay as it doesnot claim to be long lasting. Plus the texture is velvety matte and not super matte which makes it fade earlier than other matte lipsticks. It fades to a beautiful reddish orange stain.

If you want a true orange lipstick, check the one reviewed HERE

Overall, Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte lipsticks are creamy and velvety matte in texture which glides easily on the lips. These are quite hydrating and super comfortable and do not dry out the lips. It lasts for 4-5 hours with meals after which it fades to a beautiful stain. Firecracker Red is a beautiful reddish orange color. If orange lipstick too bright on you check this lipstick as the reddish tones makes it safe to wear.  It will suit most Indian skintones.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation Lipstick: Swatches & Review

Maybelline Lip Gradation lip color is hands down my favorite matte formula. Lip gradation range is around for sometime and I have 3 shades with me which I am reviewing in this post- Pink 1, Pink 2, Red 1.

Price: Rs 500 for 1.25 g

Maybelline Lip Gradation Lip color Review

Maybelline Lip gradation lipstick come in swivel up retractable crayon packaging with color coded body. It has lipstick at one end and sponge smudger at the other end. The cap for lipstick end is black colored and smudger lid is translucent black color. The lipstick is smaller in width than normal lipsticks and thicker than lip liners, so it is quite convenient and easy to use especially around edges and corners. The twisting mechanism for swivelling action is at the smudger end and not on the body. The shade name is stickered on the smudger cap and manufacturing date is engraved on the body (below the logo).

Maybelline lip gradation lipstick is super smooth and glides like butter on the lips. It is non-drying and applies like a dream. The pigmentation is phenomenal and gives opaque coverage in single swipe. The texture of these lipstick is powdery and different from any other matte lipsticks I have tried. This lipstick is very comfortable to wear. Matte lipsticks tend to dry out the lips after a few hours, but this lipstick neither dries, nor hydrates the lips. This lipstick feels creamy to apply but settles to a perfect matte finish.

When this lipstick came out, Korean gradient lips were in trend and the smudger helps to achieve the look, where maximum intensity of color is at the centre of the lips and the intensity fades out along the edges. I, personally, was never a fan of that trend. The smudger, however, does a great job in blurring and fading the pigmentation.

This lipstick lasts very long. Even after meals, this lipstick stays put and fades only slightly from the inner rims. The pigmentation and color stays intact for a good 7-8 hours! Even after that it leaves a beautiful strong stain. This lipstick doesnot emphasizes dry bits of lips like other matte lipsticks usually do. It doesnot transfer much and does not settle into fine lines.

Everything one wants in a matte lipstick, Maybelline Lip gradation has it!

Only con I could think of is the quantity. The quantity is less than other lipsticks and so it will finish up early.

Pink 1 : soft pink color with warm tones. Perfect shade for summers. This shade will suit fair to medium skintones.

Pink 2 : deep pink color with warm tones. This shade will suit all skintones.

Red 1 : Brick red color with hints of brown. This is a mature shade and perfect for gifting to your mom. This shade will suit all skintones.

Overall, Maybelline Lip gradation lipsticks come in twist up crayon packaging with smudger at one end. The lipstick bullet is slimmer than other lipsticks and thicker than lip liners, so this is quite easy to use especially around edges and corners. The smudger is decent and fades/ blurs the color beautifully. This lipstick is non drying and super comfortable on the lips.  The pigmentation and longevity is the best among all matte lipsticks I have tried. It stays put for 7-8 hours and leaves a strong stain after that. Doesn’t budge even after meals. Pink 1 is a beautiful soft pink color which will suit fair to medium skin tones. Pink 2 is deeper pink color which will suit all skin tones. Red 1 is beautiful brick red color with brown tones which is perfect for mature ladies and will suit all skintones.

These are hands down the best matte lipsticks in this price range. I highly highly recommend these!

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor : Flaming Fuchsia ~ Review & Swatch

Maybelline has a WIDE range of lipsticks and Colorshow range has been around for sometime. The range has 12 matte colors and I picked up two shades from this range quite a while back and somehow I could not get myself to review these. Both the shades are absolutely gorgeous and wearable. In this post I am reviewing the shade Flaming Fuchsia.

Price: Rs 325 for 3.9 g

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor Flaming Fuchsia Review

Maybelline Colorshow Creamy Matte Lipcolor comes in black matte packaging with color coded band at the centre. The band doesnot code the actual shade but only the color family. This is a normal swivel up bullet packaging. The shade name is stickered at the bottom of the bullet.

As the name says, the texture of these lipsticks is creamy matte. It glides on the lips easily and gives opaque coverage in single swipe. It does not feel drying at all and is super comfortable to wear. It is prone to transfer though, since it is not complete dry-your-lips kind of matte.  It has a fruity smell which does not linger for long. The lipstick gets into lines after sometime and accentuates the dry flaky bits so exfoliate the lips before applying.

Flaming Fuchsia color from this range is love at first sight for me. I didn’t even intend to buy another pink lippie but when the pushy SA swatched it on my hand I couldn’t help not buy this. I donot regret buying this one bit and will probably keep on repurchasing. Flaming Fuschia is a super vibrant poppy pink color which borders on being neon, but is still totally wearable. It is much better in real and the swatches dont do justice to the beautiful color. If you are in hunt of a vibrant pink  lipstick, do check this out. I cannot emphasize enough how gorgeous this color is.

It fades to a beautiful pink stain.

Flaming Fuschia is a gorgeous vibrant fuschia color which is unlike any other pink lipstick I have seen. It brightens up the face and will suit most Indian skintones. I will definitely repurchase this as I am in love with the beautiful vibrant color.

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain: Dutch Tulip 012 ~ Review & Swatch

First and foremost, a very Happy New Year to everyone!!!! May this year bring out the best in everyone 🙂 🙂

I will start this year by reviewing the one product  I used the most  last year- The Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain – Dutch Tulip 012.

I bought this product while random scrolling in the airport store of The Body Shop where I saw it for the first time (even though it has been around for quite sometime). I somehow never seem to get past the skincare section of TBS and rarely get to the makeup section.

I have a pink lip and cheek stain from Benefit (Benetint) so I bought this beautiful orange shade- Dutch Tulips 012 and it became my staple in 2017. The shade Pomegranate is also worth checking.

Price: Rs 895 for 7.2 ml

(price is reduced now)

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain – Dutch Tulip Review

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain comes in black opaque tiny packaging with black screw on applicator. The details and shade name is given on the bottle. The applicator is doe foot which picks up a decent quantity of product. Being opaque the quantity of product left inside is not visible.

The consistency is sheer and liquidy- gel type (thicker than Benefit ones which have completely water like consistency). These are super easy to blend but stain quite quickly so it needs to be blended instantly, especially on cheeks as it will leave patchy (or dotted) stain. Being liquid in consistency it absorbs completely and doesnot sit on lips like lipsticks do. So after a while the lips feel dry but the stain stays put. It looks absolutely gorgeous on cheeks and looks natural.

Dutch Tulip 012 is a beautiful peachy-orange shade which will suit most Indian skintones. The best thing about these is that the coverage is buildable. So you can adjust the intensity of color you want. But do make sure your lips are properly exfoliated as it tends to sit on the dry bits and accentuate it even more. The stain stays for 3-4 hours after which fades unevenly and sticks particularly on dry bits.

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain is bit pricey for the quantity, and I wont say this is a MUST HAVE product. But only a little quantity is required and so the bottle goes a long way. If you dont like to wear proper lipstick daily and only want a wash of color, do check this one. This is still easy on pocket than Benefit ones, just saying 😛

Overall, The Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain is a gorgeous multi-purpose product which looks natural and gives a beautiful wash of color on cheeks and lips. The consistency is sheer but buildable and texture is liquidy. It absorbs almost instantly and leaves a stain quickly so make sure to blend on the cheeks quickly. Dutch Tulip is a gorgeous peachy orange shade which will suit most Indian skin tones. This is a pricey product and not a must have in my opinion, but is still nice if you are not a fan of wearing lipsticks daily. The quantity is less but only a small amount is needed and the bottle will last a long time. However, do exfoliate the lips before applying this as it tends to sit on dry parts and accentuates it even more.
